For the cast of colourful local characters who relive the visit of US President Ronald Reagan it was as if the Wild West had come all the way to Tipperary but in the years since Ballyporeen has returned to its own kind of wilderness. With the majority of its pubs and shops closing down it sometimes seems like it’s all been down hill since the village became the centre of the world’s attention for one day in 1984. Ultimately Hey Ronnie Reagan is a celebration of a small community and the great local characters who still keep villages like this alive, all over the world.
